Winter Walks: The Utility Backpack

Autumn and Winter are my favourite seasons and there’s nothing better to do on a cold, dry and crisp day than wrapping up, pulling on those thick socks and exploring the place you live in?
More recently me and my boyfriend have decided to tear ourselves away from our usual haunts and explore the great outdoors. We’ve been walking a heck of a lot and were surprised to discover even more hidden gems and green spaces tucked away down side streets and back roads, just outside minutes from our front door.
But what ‘winter layers’ do I grab when I’m heading out the door? I’m a big fan of creating style with layering and I suppose that’s big part of why I enjoy the colder months more than the sticky summer sun. This chunky tartan scarf hasn’t been off my neck since the day I bought it. Surprisingly, although I think it looks like something you’d pick up in Zara or Topshop (with its large cut and soft texture) I snapped it up from Primark for around £5! It’s the perfect scarf that you can wear loose for a relaxed look or wrap around to keep snug and warm.
Another item of clothing I haven’t been able to tear away from my torso is my favourite investment piece of a real leather jacket. I’d been on the hunt for a cropped style leather jacket for a while but similar too ‘Goldilocks’ they were always too long or too short. Finally I spotted this black cropped biker jacket from the brand ‘Lola Skye’ which you can pick up in high street store Dorothy Perkins. It has such a flattering fit (just above the hips) with a detailed ribbed back, antique gold zips/ studs/ buckles and full length sleeves. It was around £150 but I managed to snap it up for super cheap using 2 discount codes – hurrah!
And last but not least I’ve been using this fashionable yet functional (two words i thought I’d never say together) over sized khaki green backpack every weekend in which we’ve decided to brave the cold for a winter walk. Its the perfect size to throw in coffee flasks, lunch, umbrella and pretty much the whole of the kitchen sink! I originally bought it from an online website called YesWalker but i’ve had it that long i don’t believe its an active online retailer any more! However I’m sure it will be available else where from a over seas retailer if you pop the details in the a search engine!
