There’s been a number of products I’ve lusted after for a while so after reading reviews and finally hitting pan on my usual products I decided to update my makeup bag with some newbies.

The Body Shop Clear Brow & Lash Gel

I’ve been using The Body Shop Clear Brow & Lash Gel mainly for my brows, it has a light-medium consistency that doesn’t clog the hairs, leaves a matt finish and doesn’t feel ‘crispy’. It’s the type of brow gel that lets the hairs lie naturally with a little helping hand to keep those pesky strays in place. The small, thin brush is a great shape to run through the brows with one quick swipe.

When it comes to pressed setting powders I’ve never strayed from the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder which I’ve used since I was about 15 years old. However now and again I like to try out other products to see if I can find a new favourite and I think I’ve found it! The powder itself is very finely milled and the colour match is true to shade. It can be easily built up if you require more coverage or lightly dusted over the face to set makeup in place. I actually prefer this to the Rimmel powder as it doesn’t leave a cakey finish when you’ve accidentally applied a little too much and feels as though it is still letting the skin breath.

I’ve never taken to felt tip liquid liners as the ‘black’ pigment is a little too on the grey side and not very ‘true black’. However I’ve recently taken to a more natural cat flick that’s a little less bold and just helps to thicken the lashes and wing out the eyes. The Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eye Liner is perfect for this with its dense, thin tip that’s easy to apply close to the lashes and create that neat flick.

I cannot rave about this product enough, it sits beautifully, smoothing over the skin and blurring imperfections with a helping hand from the tinted ingredient. It doesn’t dry out the skin or look cakey and makes your skin feel incredibly soft.  The overall look of my foundation or tinted moisturiser is flawless with a matt look that helps to prolong its wear. The only downside to this primer is that I’m biggest fan of the thick mousse like consistency that can be a pain to apply but once you’ve got the technique down to a T you can ignore that.  It’s probably one of the best primers I’ve ever used.

A product that’s gone a stir crazy in the bloggersphere and I just had to give into the hype to see what all the fuss is about. I’ve heard so many good things about this product but also a handful of bad so I wanted to try it out for myself and I was so impressed! The packaging is great as you can see the product usage and although some people aren’t a fan of the sponge applicator (due to hygiene reasons) it seems no different to me than using a doe foot applicator. The formula itself is a medium- thick consistency with high coverage that highlights under the eyes and erase dark circles. I typically apply the product with the sponge aapplicator and blend using my fingers in which the product doesn’t dry out and sinks beautifully into the skin. I’ve actually found that I’ve started to apply less foundation overall as I tend to blend the concealer outwards to help to cover and contour. I definitely favour this product over the infamous Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer!  

This highlighter is pretty much a dupe for Benefit High Beam or the Nars Copacobana at a lower cost. The tube is huge when you compare it to the amount of product you actually use (I apply around ½ a pea sized amount for both sides of my face). The pink tone blends into the skin beautifully to add a healthy natural glow and shimmer to the tops of the cheek bones, cupids bow, down the nose or under the eye brows. I’ve recently been using this product alongside a bronzer to create a contoured look without the need for blusher!
