On Trial: MyProtein CLA & Omega 3 Supplements

On Trial: MyProtein CLA & Omega 3 Supplements (*)

Two very well-known vitamins have finally made their little way into my diet. I was recently contacted by MyProtein to ask if I’d like to review some products from their website. Of course if you’ve seen my ‘Healthy Recipes’ you’ll know that my main ingredient is MyProtein Whey Powder so already being a huge fan I said yes!
I chose 1 product that’s a very well-known supplement (Omega 3) and 1 product I haven’t heard about at all but was intrigued to try (CLA).

MyProtein Omega 3
Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid found in sources of fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines as well as plant sources such as nuts and seeds. It contributes to the healthy maintenance and normal function of the heart, brain and eye sight. Omega 3 can also curb rheumatoid arthritis, depression, baby development and asthma alongside many others.

The MyProtein 1000mg container provides you with 90 soft gel capsules which are instructed to be taken 1 to 3 times a day. So in total that can give you between 30 to 90 days’ worth of Omega 3!
I’ve firstly consumed the Omega 3 once a day (in the morning) however more recently I’ve been having trouble with RSI so I’ve upped my consumption to 2 times a day and possibly will try 3. I did notice since the trial that my skin is less dry and both my hair and nails are growing at a pretty quick rate. However I’m yet to see a difference with overall general health of my bones as they do seem a little stiff now and again and also RSI hasn’t improved but this will be due to my lifestyle.

MyProtein CLA
Conjugated Linoleic Acid is a naturally occurring fatty acid that cannot be produced by the human body but is consumed through dairy or animal sources. It is a potent anti-oxidant and a powerful immune system enhancer that upon consummation can aid in the assistance of boosting your metabolic rate, enhancing muscle growth, lowers cholesterol and lowers insulin resistance.

The MyProtein 1000mg container provides you with 60 soft gels, so that’s 10 full days of CLA use. The soft gel tablets are quite large however their silicone exterior makes them very easy to swallow.
It is instructed that you consume 2 tablets 3 times a day with every meal which firstly makes it easier to remember to take them and also doesn’t interrupt your day.

After 10 days of consuming CLA I unfortunately didn’t notice any difference with weight loss or muscle mass however I did notice that the week in which I wasn’t eating too ‘healthy’, I did managed to maintain my weight and my stomach didn’t bloat. I can imagine that these capsules would work better alongside an exercise programme as they are a metabolism booster however as I’m not a ‘gym bunny’ I don’t believe I got as much out of them as I could have.
