Festival Fashion With Matalan

Festival Fashion With Matalan (*)

Festival season has arrived and although some of us don’t actually have our hands on some trusty tickets that doesn’t mean we cant put a twist on our weekend outfits, get out those pasty white British legs and donning something fringed, right?

Festival fashion typically has that 70’s bohemian vibe but as I was challenged by Matalan to create a look i wanted to go with something a little less boho and a little more minimalist and monochrome.
So sticking with comfort and the with unpredictable British weather in mind i chose this plain black t-shirt with a fringed hem. I actually sized up for a more over-sized, relaxed longer look and (although i was braving bare legs) i threw on a plain body con skirt to add a couple inches of material just in case the sun doesn’t make an appearance.
I was going to opt for your typically statement necklace but this beautiful cream fringed pashmina scarf caught my eye. I think it adds more of a statement than a necklace would and scarves are pretty darn versatile at a festival as you can use them to keep warm, protect your hair from rain, sit on – in a less muddy field and also to protect your outfit when you’re eating (if you’re a messy eater).
I know most people opt for the good old industrial wellingtons but for me if there weather isn’t too shabby then I prefer footwear that can let your tootsies breath. These metallic silver buckle sandals are great as the soles are made from rubber so they’re perfect if you accidentally stumble in a puddle or two as they won’t soak up moisture and are easy to clean! They’re so comfortable and make a change from your general tan or black sandals.
To complete the look i chose this classic tan satchel with adjustable straps that are great for throwing across body or shoulder. It has more than enough room for all your festival essentials and adds contrast to any monochrome outfit. Going with the tan/brown accessories i paired it with these amazing oversized tortoise shell sunglasses with cat eye frames that are perfect for protecting your peepers and hiding those overnight bags!
