Boxed Brownies For Grown Ups (*)
You can get flowers through your letter box but imagine receiving 6 indulgently rich portions of your favourite treat with a grown up twist.
Boxed Brownies are a small independently owned business in Sheffield ran by Clive and Hayley who work on creating not just your average brownie! All their brownies are made with Fairtrade chocolate and free range eggs freshly layed by their three corn fed chickens; Tilly-the-Hen, Rocky Rhode and Jessica Hennis *giggle*.
The brownies were hand delivered (first class) and came beautifully packaged through the post. I opened them up to find a cute and personalised Brownie Menu, a sweet little typography quote printed onto card and (attention to detail) baking paper printed with Sheffield related things! The brownies themselves looked irresistible, an indulgent portion that tasted incredibly fresh. But what about the flavours?
Bonfire Toffee
A gooey, fudgy and dense portion of heaven with a slight twist of flavour topped with toasted marshmallows.
Amaretto & Rosemary
A firmer yet equally as moist brownie with a fresh herby hint of rosemary and familiar wintery amaretto punch.
Salted Caramel
An indulgent slice of rich chocolate with a warming after taste of sticky caramel and an added pinch of salt to boost the sweetness.
Cardamom & Ginger
A warming and aromatic brownie that gives a refreshing and slight spice to a rich and chocolatey treat.
Cranberry & Pistachio
A denser yet just as gooey brownie with sweet chunks of cranberry and pistachio that add just enough crunchy texture and sweet Black Forest gateaux-esque tang to a classic dessert.
Stollen
An unusual cross between a brownie and a fruit and nut cake, this firm and fudgy yet cake-like brownie is what I imagine it’s like having Christmas day in edible form with a distinctive taste of marzipan.
